Mangaluru, Sept 9: The 20th annual Sarvajanika Shri Ganeshotsava, Tene Habba and Ashtottara Sahasra Narikela Maha Ganayaga will be held from September 14 to 16 at Omkara Nagar, Bunts Hostel, Mangaluru.
The festival is jointly organised by Buntara Yane Nadavara Mathru Sangha, Bunts Associations of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Kasaragod districts, Shri Siddhivinayaka Prathishtana and the Sarvajanika Shri Ganeshotsava Samithi.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Managing Trustee of Shri Siddhivinayaka Prathishtana, Mr. Ajith Kumar Rai Maladi, said a mass prayer will be held at 5 pm on September 13 at Radhakrishna Temple near Sharavu Temple. The idol of Lord Siddhivinayaka, sculpted by the disciples of Shri Ramdas Acharya, will then be brought in a procession to Omkara Nagar.
On September 14, idol installation will be held at 8 am, followed by flag hoisting, inauguration and Tene Vitarana at 9 am. A mythological dance-drama will be staged at 3 pm, a religious meeting will be held at 5 pm, Rangapuja at 7.30 pm and Bantakala Sangama-2026 at 8 pm.
On September 15, Mudappa Seve will be held at 11.30 am, Ganayaga rituals from 4 pm, a religious meeting at 5 pm, Hoovina Puja at 7.30 pm and a musical evening at 8 pm.
On September 16, the Ganayaga will begin at 8.30 am, Maha Poornahuti at 11 am, Maha Annasantharpane at 12.30 pm, pre-immersion puja at 3.30 pm and flagging off of the Shobhayatra.
The Shobhayatra will start from Omkara Nagar and proceed via Bunts Hostel Circle, PVS Circle, New Chitra Talkies and Venkataramana Temple Road, with the participation of Bhajana teams, and will culminate with immersion at the Shri Mahammayi Temple lake.
Vice President of the Mathru Sangha Hemanath Shetty Kavu, General Secretary M. Karunakara Shetty, Treasurer Ram Mohan Rai, Joint Secretary Padmanabha Shetty Punchame, President of the Ganeshotsava Samithi Jayasheel Adyantaya Adyar Guthu and General Secretary Sadashiva Shetty Bijai were present.
