Abu Dhabi, UAE: Former President of India Social & Cultural Centre (ISC), Abu Dhabi and Prominent NRI Leader, Mr. Mitrampady Jayaram Rai has congratulated the Karnataka Government for granting second official language status to Tulu.
Speaking from Abu Dhabi, Mr. Rai said, “This is a historic and golden chapter for Tulu Nadu. On behalf of lakhs of NRIs in the Gulf, I congratulate all Tulu brothers and sisters.”
“I sincerely thank Chief Minister Shri D.K. Shivakumar and the entire Cabinet for this bold and historic decision. Tulu is not just a language, it is our culture, our emotion and our identity. Tulu has more than 2000 years of rich heritage with Naga worship, Bhoota Aradhane, Kambala, Yakshagana and Paddana,” he said.
Mr. Rai further said, “This victory belongs to all Tulu associations, writers, artists and youths who struggled for many years. My special thanks to District Incharge Minister Shri U.T. Khader, Puttur Dynamic MLA Shri Ashok Kumar Rai and all parties MLAs, MPs, Political, Social, Literary leaders, Tulu language fighters, especially MLA Shri Sunil Kumar, Dr. Mijaruguthu Mohan Alva, Ex-Minister Shri B. Ramanath Rai and all associations and leaders of Tulunadu for their valuable contribution and continuous support for the cause of Tulu.”
“This is a big responsibility to save Tulu for the next generation. Let our children learn Tulu in schools. We hope Tulu will soon be included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution,” he added.
Tulu is our breath, Tulu is our pride.
